A STUDY ABOUT HOW IIUM PUPILS PERCEIVE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ON BUILDING GENTLE SKILLS
A study how IIUM learners perceive the effectiveness of extracurricular activities on building soft skills.
Staying students, this can be a must so they can take the good thing about all options and experience a college or university life. After school activities are the platform for young students to gain and sharpen university life. The investigation is designed to look into effectiveness of extracurricular actions in building soft expertise among IIUM undergraduates. On the web questionnaires were used to accumulate data by 30 respondents who were randomly selected. This kind of questionnaire was distributed to determine the frequency of students participates in extracurricular activities and know rank of very soft skills obtained. The initial results present that about 26 participants participated in extracurricular activities and all of participants know the importance of soft abilities in future. In addition, two smooth skills; meaningful and professional ethics and teamwork, had been ranked while Level four and 5 respectively. The final outcome can be drawn that undergraduates knew selection of soft abilities can be acquired and the importance of it for their upcoming. However , university should encourage more entrepreneurship programs since it received the best ranked through the findings.

Life in university must be beyond a great academic knowledge. Students should take the advantage of every opportunities surrounding them to enjoy a substantial experience throughout their university existence. Extracurricular activities are the platform for students to achieve and sharpen their soft skills. Sometimes students have limited probabilities to develop or utilize their particular soft abilities in class. There is certainly wide range of ethnic clubs, community services, and leisure golf equipment available in Foreign Islamic University or college Malaysia (IIUM). Besides the key co-curricular programs which are required for every student like command course and parenting study course, students also can join various other clubs which usually organize simply by IIUM pupils. The issue has exploded in importance of extracurricular actions when training course grade and course work often inadequate indications of the skills needed for achievement in today's fact. Roselina Shakir (2009) mentioned that, " employers offer criticism that graduates are usually academically efficient but not enough soft skillsвЂќ (p. 309). Other than that, employment market demands for more competitive expertise on teachers to satisfy the growing of globalization. The positive effect refers to integration of several sectors nowadays leads to absolutely essential for higher level skills and techniques.
A great extracurricular activity is used to spell out extra activities that can be done by the students in an institution that can help them grow their soft skills such as interaction skills and teamwork. The Malaysian Institute of Higher Learning interprets very soft skills because incorporating aspects of generic skills which include nonacademic skills including leadership, teamwork, communication, and lifelong learning (Roselina Shakir, 2009).
